Hot Grills 2024

On July 13, starting at 8:45 p.m., Piazza Torino in Jesolo will host the 19th edition of Griglie Roventi, the liveliest and most original barbecue championship ever.

The 2024 theme, inspired by cinema, was chosen directly by the public through a social media contest held just before Easter.

The stars of the evening will be 200 amateur chefs who, divided into pairs, will compete for the Oscar for best dish. To win, they’ll have to win over the strict jury of the “Adriatic Academy Award,” led by chef Alessandro Silvestri and composed of a group of experts including journalists, industry professionals, and opinion leaders, who will judge based on rigorous criteria: a good script, a convincing cast, effective direction, and an impeccable presentation—perhaps enhanced by a few “special effects.”

The winners will be the grill masters who can combine flavors and textures, creative presentation and technique, joy and skill, with a special focus on meat cooking and a look that fits the evening’s Hollywood theme.

Some will go for blockbuster-style spectacle, others will opt for the lightheartedness of a comedy, and still others will pay homage to horror with a gory treat. And for those who don’t quite make the cut? There will be the “Razzie Awards,” complete with the traditional “walk of shame” and a symbolic, tongue-in-cheek “simpathy award” for the bottom finishers.

Participants will have one hour to create their BBQ-themed film, using 100 Weber Q 1200 gas grills powered by Beyfin, “Griglie Roventi Official” branded hats and aprons, a meat kit provided by Maxì Supermercati, and cheeses from Caseificio Tomasoni—the competition’s sponsor alongside Birra Forst for beverages—while Sara Clean Management will handle cleaning up the arena after the event. DJ sets and entertainment provided by Radio Wow.

The event, broadcast live on Telenuovo, is conceived and organized by Ideeuropee with the support of the Municipality of Jesolo.

Registration will officially open on June 5.
