Jesolo Sand Nativity

This year, Jesolo’s famous sand nativity scene is dedicated to interfaith dialogue and the themes of the encyclical “Fratelli tutti,” signed by Pope Francis on October 3, 2020.

The Nativity scene, created using sand from our beloved city, will be open to the public throughFebruary 9with free admission, offering visitors the opportunity to support charitable initiatives by purchasing merchandise and making donations.

On the occasion of the inauguration, which will take place onNovember 29, we will have the honor of hostingMonsignor Giacinto-Boulos Marcuzzo, auxiliary bishop and vicar general emeritus of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem. His presence will enrich the event and provide firsthand insight into the situation of the people in the Holy Land, while presenting a project dedicated to them. Bishop Marcuzzo will also participate in various public events, thereby engaging the entire community of Jesolo.

This year’s theme,“Fratelli tutti,”invites us to reflect on the importance of interreligious dialogue as a path toward peaceful coexistence. Although the event has Christian roots, it is open to everyone, representing a moment when the Divine becomes part of history and affirms the dignity of every person. As Pope Francis states, “this reflection opens itself to dialogue with all people of good will,” inviting us to be witnesses of compassion and mutual aid, just like the Good Samaritan.

This is the22nd editionof the Jesolo Sand Nativity, which continues the message of peace and dialogue that has characterized recent editions. Last year, the figure of St. Francis and his message of unity served as the central theme, and in 2022 we joined forces to promote peace during the most difficult times. Jesolo Sand Nativity returns to enchant young and old alike with stunning sculptures dedicated this year to the theme of interfaith dialogue.
