Exploring the lagoon by boat through its canals is one ofthe most exciting experiences you can have.
Many boats andgondolascrowd the waterways, especially during thesummer season; for this reason, traffic must be carefully regulated, and you’ll need atemporary license plate to enter the canals.
Therefore, if your boat has anenginepower greater than 10 hp, you must have a“temporary identification tag,”a document issued by the Metropolitan City of Venice, is valid for30 daysfrom the date of issue, and will allow you to freely visit the Lagoon on your boat.
All you need to do is fill out the necessary paperwork andpay a fee of €10(plus a €16.00 stamp duty) to receive thepermitfor yourself and any passengers you choose to carry.
Remember that:
- Identification tags are issued:
- to the natural or legal person responsible for navigation
- to the individuals responsible for navigating that vessel.
- In order to issue an identification tag, the Navigation Manager must meet the following requirements:
- be at least 18 years of age
- not be legally or judicially incapacitated
- have their residence, domicile, or registered office in Italy in accordance with the provisions of the Civil Code, or be reachable in the manner prescribed by law.
