The group of sculptors is led by Canadian David Ducharme and includes Nicolai Torkhov (Russia), Vaclav Lemon (Czech Republic) and brothers Antony and Ross Baisas, originally from the Philippines and living in Canada.
Having finished their work in Jesolo, the Baisas brothers and Vaclav Lemon will participate in the World Ice Sculpture Championships in Sesto San Giovanni, where they will create works dedicated to the Winter Olympics Milan Cortina from January 23-25. In the competition, Antony will represent Canada, Ross the Philippines, and Vaclav the Czech Republic.

For the Jesolo Ice Nativity scene, artists work inside a large cold room at -12 degrees Celsius, sculpting 75 blocks of ice weighing 136 kilograms each with special tools and using water to join the blocks together like real natural “glue.”

The exhibition features two major scenes:
– on the one hand, a landscape of the far north, where a family of polar bears traverse a world of crystals and snow;
– on the other, the traditional nativity scene, with the angel crowning the baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, the ox, the donkey, the shepherd, and the arrival of the Three Kings with their gifts.
