LELLA COSTA – Women who made history.
From Eleanor Roosvelt to Franca Valeri, from Virginia Wolf to Artemisia Gentileschi: portraits of women who made history, each in her own way. There are also a feared Chinese pirate, a brilliant Iranian mathematician, and an American rancher who invented windshield wipers. The book Se non posso ballare non è la mia rivoluzione (Solferino) chronicles the personal relationship between Lella Costa, actress and playwright, and these sometimes forgotten female figures.

Tuesday, July 15, 9 p.m.

MATTEO BUSSOLA – Fragility and dreams: a bridge between adults and adolescents.
Matteo Bussola often investigates the parent-child relationship and the world of adolescents. In his novel La neve in fondo al mare (Einaudi), he delicately narrates the frailties of a teenager and his father, together in a child neuropsychiatric ward where the boy is hospitalized. Misunderstandings, but also the ability to welcome the other. In the new novel The Talented Swallow (Salani) there are the dreams and friendship of two young people between dance, the art of drawing and falling in love.

CHAIN FIORELLO – The world of its characters.
A multifaceted writer with an enthralling enthusiasm, Catena Fiorello gives us a roundup of the characters in her novels. From the tender Ciatuzzu, the protagonist of the novel of the same name (Rizzoli), who loses his mother as a child in the 1960s and is snatched from Sicily by his father who takes him to Belgium, to Lucia, the protagonist of Picciridda (Giunti) who, again in the 1960s, is entrusted to her grandmother while her parents emigrate to Germany. And then the adventures in the key of comedy of the women protagonists of the Monte Pepe saga: Rosa, Nunziatina, Maria, Giuseppa and Sarina, who between arancini and cannoli tell their lives in Cinque donne e un arancino (Giunti), I cannoli di Marites (Giunti), Granita e baguette (Giunti).

MARCO MALVALDI AND ALESSANDRO ROBECCHI – Noir with irony.
From a new adventure of Marco Malvaldi’s vecchietti del BarLume to Alessandro Robecchi’s black comedy: two noir authors sign two detective stories tinged with irony. With Piomba libera tutti (Sellerio) Malvaldi once again takes us into the world of the vecchietti del BarLume, which has also become a TV series, with a “condominium” investigation: a woman detested by her neighbors is the one to be killed. With The Killer’s Heel (Sellerio), Robecchi, on the other hand, takes a break from his serial characters and delivers a caustic black comedy that ironizes on the world of contract killers. A meeting on ironic noirs that do not forget to do social criticism.

Friday, July 18, 9 p.m.

ILARIA TUTI – When History Meets Thriller.
Ilaria Tuti is known for her thrillers starring Teresa Battaglia, the commissioner with Alzheimer’s disease who first appeared in Flowers Above Hell. But alongside detective stories there are also historical novels such as Flower of Rock. In Risplendo non brucio (Longanesi) the writer has created a mix between these two narrative souls by constructing a thriller set in ’44 between Hitler’s headquarters and the Risiera di San Sabba in Trieste, drawing inspiration from real events.

Saturday, July 19, 9 p.m.

CAMPIELLO PRIZE
In keeping with tradition, the Campiello Prize’s five-horse field makes a stop in Jesolo. On stage the finalists: Marco Belpoliti with “Nord” (Einaudi), Wanda Marasco with “Di spalle a questo mondo” (Neri Pozza), Monica Pareschi with “Inverness” (Polidoro), Alberto Prunetti with “Troncamacchioni” (Feltrinelli) and Fabio Stassi with “Bebelplatz” (Sellerio).
